Fractional CO2 Laser       back up ^

Q. How Sandstone’s Fractional Technology Works
A. The high speed UltraFine Fractional Scanner will direct a grid pattern of tiny pulses of light at the skin. Each pulse delivers a column of energy that can reach the skin’s dermal layer. This stimulates a natural renewal process of the body’s own collagen. Also, because the laser beam has been fractionized, small areas of untreated skin will be left between the treated spots. By strategically performing the procedure in this way, the healing process is accelerated.

Q. Is fractional resurfacing right for me?
A. Fractional skin resurfacing is a safe and effective procedure for almost any skin type. Fractional resurfacing can be applied to most areas of the body. Consult your physician to see if fractional resurfacing is right for you.

Q. How long will my treatment take?
A. The Matrix Fractional CO2 treatment usually takes less than 30 minutes.

Q. What does the laser treatment feel like?
A. Treatment sensations vary from person to person. As tiny pulses of energy are delivered into the skin, most patients will experience a warm sharp feeling and an immediate tightening of the skin. Most patients look and feel like they have a mild sunburn for a few days after the treatment. Anesthetic ointments and cooling devices may be used to reduce any discomfort during and after the procedure.

Q. How will I take care of my skin after treatment?
A. Depending on the desired outcome, post-treatment care will vary from patient to patient. Most patients that have a full facial skin rejuvenation treatment will need to stay indoors for a few days while applying a topical ointment as directed by the physician.

Q. How much does the treatment cost?
A. Costs will vary depending on your skin condition and overall treatment requirements. Schedule a consultation today for more details.

Q. What is remodeling?
A. Aramis is the only laser specifically designed and developed for remodeling. Laser remodeling is a revolutionary treatment for wrinkles. This non-invasive and pain-free process involves heating the dermis while cooling the overlying epidermis which stimulates the natural production of neo-collagen. This neo-collagen gradually reduces and softens wrinkles and gives the skin a younger and fresher look.

Q. What areas can be treated?
A. All age sensitive areas: around the eyes, mouth, chin, neck, lower neck and chest, hands

Q. Are there any risks?
A. There are no risks and no side effects.

Q. How many treatments are necessary?
A. An average of four treatments, performed at one month intervals. A full facial treatment takes only 30 minutes. Follow-up treatments are recommended.

Q. What results can I expect ?
A. Your skin will regain tonicity and be firmer, smoother, and more radiant resulting in a younger appearance.

Q. What is Photofacial?
A. IPL Photorejuvenation is a non-invasive treatment that erases skin damage without disrupting the skin's surface. The patented non-laser technology supplies a broad spectrum of light which reaches deep down to the collagen producing level of the skin, remarkably reducing the signs of aging.

Q. What areas can be treated?
A. Photofacial Treatments can be used on any part of the skin. They are especially effective for improving the appearance of the face, neck and chest.

Q. What results can I expect?
A. You can expect to see a gradual decrease in overall redness, flushing and dilated capillaries. People with visible aging from the sun can expect to see their skin become smoother with a decrease in fine wrinkles, reduction in pore size, and fading of sun spots. Many people with Rosacea see an improvement in breakouts and are able to decrease or discontinue their medications.

Q. What is a Photofacial Treatment like?
A. Each treatment takes approximately 20 to 40 minutes. A mild amount of discomfort can be expected. Many patients prefer to use a topical anesthetic cream available at our office or by prescription from their personal physician. Immediately following a treatment, the skin may appear red and flushed and tiny capillaries may appear more visible. Brown spots generally appear darker. All of these changes gradually fade over a period of a few hours to a few days.

Q. How soon will I see results?
A. After your first treatment, your skin will feel smoother and will have a more even tone. These improvements are gradual and will be more visible after each treatment. Five treatments are performed for optimal results. Some patients will benefit from an additional treatments.

Q. Who are the best candidates for a Photofacial Treatments?
A. The best candidates for Photofacial Treatments are:
· People who suffer from Rosacea and experience flushing and redness of their skin.
· People with early aging changes and sun damage who desire healthier more youthful appearing skin.
· People who don’t want to take the time off to heal from laser resurfacing or chemical peels.

Q. How is IPL used to treat benign vascular lesions?
A. Aging, sun exposure and other factors can cause the appearance of broken capillaries and blood vessels on the face known as telangiectasias, which appear as spider veins. Sometimes broken capillaries can cause a diffused redness in the skin, called erythema, a source of social embarrassment for many people. Rosacea is a common skin condition that is characterized by diffused erythema. All of these conditions respond well to IPL. For unsightly veins on the legs, both IPL and MeDioStar™ laser technologies together are capable of addressing these lesions. During treatment, Intense Pulsed Light or laser light is absorbed by the blood in these small veins, heating and destroying the vessels. Over time the destroyed veins are reabsorbed and disappear.

Q. What are IPL Skin Treatments using Photorejuvenation?
A. The term "Photorejuvenation" refers to the non-ablative, non-invasive treatment of red and brown pigment that leaves a smooth skin texture and even complexion, yielding a more youthful appearance. IPL Skin Treatments are a safe, effective and popular way to improve the signs of aging from the face, neck, chest, arms and hands. This in-office procedure is performed by a physician or trained medical staff member and typically requires four to six sessions of about 20 minutes each, performed at three-week intervals.

Q. What are the advantages of IPL Skin Treatments using Photorejuvenation?
A. In addition to effectively treating multiple symptoms and locations in each session, the IPL procedure is gentle, non-invasive and safe, requiring no downtime. In fact, many people even schedule their sessions during their lunch breaks. Additionally, IPL treatments are customized to each individual's specific skin type and condition, providing the best possible results.

Q. Who is a candidate for this procedure?
A. Any man or woman who shows the signs of aged and sun-damaged skin is a candidate for IPL Skin Treatments using Photorejuvenation. A brief consultation with an IPL specialist should provide all the information needed.

Q. How are IPL Skin Treatments using Photorejuvenation performed?
A. Before treatment, a cold gel is usually applied to the area to be treated, and patients are given protective eyewear. During treatment, the smooth, glass surface of the IPL handpiece is gently applied to the skin, delivering precise pulses of light to the area being treated. IPL treatments are usually pain-free, but an anesthetic cream can be used if the light pulses are uncomfortable. Some patients compare the sensation to a light pinch or the snap of a rubber band. Treatment sessions usually last about 20 minutes, and a complete program usually includes four to six sessions. After treatment, patients can immediately return to normal routines and activities. Occasionally evidence of treatment such as redness or blotchiness may last for an hour or two.

Q. How much do IPL Skin Treatments using Photorejuvenation cost?
A. Costs vary depending on the portion of the body where the procedure is performed, the severity of the skin condition and other factors. Compared to other aesthetic procedures, IPL Skin Treatments are quite affordable. IPL is usually priced above microdermabrasion and some chemical peels, but less than laser resurfacing and cosmetic surgeries. IPL procedures are not covered by health insurance.

Q. What causes unwanted hair?
A. Excess and unwanted hair is a common problem. Women frequently experience this condition on the face, especially the upper lip or eyebrow area, at the bikini line, under their arms or on their legs. Men often have unwanted hair on their back or chest, between their eyebrows or on other parts of their face. In many cases excessive hair growth runs in families. Race can also be a factor — caucasions are more prone to having excess facial hair than are Asians and African Americans. White women of Mediterranean descent are more likely to have unwanted hair than women who have a Scandinavian background. Hormones also play a role. Some people experience unwanted or excess hair from the time they reach puberty; others find it to be a condition that gets worse with age. Some women experience additional hair growth during pregnancy or menopause.

Q. How is unwanted hair treated?
A. Conventional treatments include shaving, plucking, waxing and depilatory creams. These methods provide temporary fixes that are often inconvenient, messy and irritating for the skin. Electrolysis can have good results, but is time-consuming, sometimes painful and is useful only in removing hair in small areas. The MeDioStar™ ™ laser is rapidly changing hair removal treatment, providing gentle, non-invasive, long-lasting solutions to unwanted hair on any body area.

Q. Why use the MeDioStar™ Diode Laser over other hair removal systems?
A. The MeDioStar™ laser is specifically designed for hair removal. We have chosen this laser because of the extensive clinical research which demonstrated its effectiveness for permanent hair reduction. Other laser hair removal systems that we have investigated cannot make this claim.

Q. How does the MeDioStar™ system remove hair?
A. This laser targets the pigment located in the hair follicle and shaft. The light is absorbed by the pigment in the hair follicle and this energy is converted to heat which results in damage to the hair follicle. This damage causes delayed re-growth of the hair, and in most cases permanent destruction of many of the hair follicles. Unlike electrolysis, which kills one hair follicle at a time, the laser reaches and treats hundreds of follicles at a time.

Q. Is it safe?
A. The MeDioStar™ system was developed from years of research. Complications are rare. In less than 1% of cases, skin lightning or darkening may occur. It is advisable to wear sunblock when in the sun during the month following laser treatment.

Q. What does the treatment feel like?
A. Most people tolerate the treatments very well. Discomfort is often described as a slight tingling or a pinch similar to the snap of a rubber band. Topical anesthesia can be used when treating particularly sensitive areas of the body.

Q. Are there any possible side effects?
A. The appearance of the treated area immediately following treatment will vary from patient to patient depending on the extent of the procedure and skin type. Side effects, if any, are usually minor. There may be some redness and swelling around the treated hair follicles; this is a desired clinical result indicating that the follicle has responded to treatment. This reaction typically disappears within hours. Most people return to normal activity right away. On rare occasions, some blistering may occur, but this typically resolves quickly. The skin can become darker or lighter following treatment, but will generally return to normal within a few weeks. Limiting sun exposure before and after each treatment will minimize the risk of complications.

Q. What kind of results should I expect? Does this technology really remove hair long-term?
A. Yes. Scientific studies show that the use of targeted, light-based energy actually damages or destroys hair follicles at the cellular level. A permanent reduction in the number of re-growing hairs is usually achieved following each treatment. We place each client on a treatment schedule to ensure we are targeting active hairs at the right time of the hair growth cycle. This treatment method coupled with the effective MeDioStar™ laser is what leads to success levels exceeding 95%.

Q. Are the results permanent?
A. The MeDioStar™ causes permanent hair reduction and delayed re-growth of the treated hair follicles. Also, re-growing hairs were shown to be thinner and lighter than previously. Because the laser tends to treat hair follicles that are in an active growth phase, more than one treatment will be required to disable hair follicles that subsequently enter this growth phase. However, one treatment may result in a significant enough improvement that it may be all you desire or require.

Q. Are these treatments FDA-cleared? Are they safe?
A. Yes, both the MeDioStar™ Laser System and the IPL [Intense Pulsed Light] System are FDA-cleared for the treatment of unwanted hair. The procedures have unparalleled safety records. Side effects are rare and generally well-tolerated.

Q. Are these procedures covered by insurance?
A. No.
